Up for sale, a 1989 Fender Stratocaster 54 vintage reissue model ST54-900 in perfect working order, finished in Sunburst nitro lacquer and refretted with medium jumbo fretwire. This early, top-tiered Made in Japan Strat was produced at the Fujigen factory during the golden age of Fender Japan production, uncommon outside its country of origin. With premium features throughout mirroring Fender’s American Vintage line, the top-tier ST54-900 features a nitro lacquer gloss finish, American Vintage 57/62 black bobbin pickups, a USA-made writing harness with CTS pots, a steel tremolo block, and a soft V-shaped neck profile carve. This is a notably early example, predating the models first catalog appearance in 1990 by several months.

Tonewoods include an alder body and a one-piece maple neck, providing a balanced, clear acoustic profile channeled faithfully via the pickup complement. The Fender 57/62 black bobbin single coils (the same pickups seen in the American Vintage line and early USA Custom Shop Strats) feature staggered alnico magnets and cloth-covered leads; theyre lively, sparkling, and dynamic, and the sound is distinct and vital in every position on the switch. The bridge pickup has bite and bounce, with a woody, percussive middle pickup, and round, bell-like chime at the neck. This ST54-900 weighs 7lbs 5oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mikes Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.

The ST54-900 model is finished in genuine nitro lacquer (unlike the poly finishes used on the vast majority of Fender Japan production), with mild strap-related wear on top at the lower bout and various finish chips, dings and scuffs consistent with use. The ambered nitro gloss on the flame maple neck exhibits some shallow marks buffed smooth through use, and theres a cigarette burn on the headstock.

A padded gigbag is included.
